Cable Testing & Certification

Professional cable testing and certification using Fluke and equivalent equipment. TIA/EIA compliant testing for copper and fiber with documented results.

Cable Testing & Certification

Cable testing and certification provides documented proof that your cabling infrastructure meets performance specifications. Whether you’re accepting new construction, troubleshooting network problems, or verifying existing infrastructure, professional testing with calibrated equipment gives you the data you need.

We use Fluke Networks and equivalent professional test equipment to certify copper and fiber infrastructure to TIA/EIA standards. Every test result is documented and delivered in a format suitable for contractor acceptance, insurance documentation, or compliance requirements.

Copper Cable Testing

Category Testing (Certification)

  • Cat5e Testing — Verification to TIA-568-C.2 Category 5e requirements
  • Cat6 Testing — Full certification to TIA-568-C.2 Category 6 requirements including alien crosstalk
  • Cat6a Testing — 10GBASE-T certification including all required parameters

Test Parameters

  • Wire Map — Verifying correct pin-to-pin connectivity and absence of miswires
  • Length — Confirming cable runs are within channel limits
  • Insertion Loss — Measuring signal attenuation across the link
  • NEXT — Near-End Crosstalk measurement
  • Return Loss — Measuring reflections that degrade signal quality
  • ACR-N/ACR-F — Attenuation to Crosstalk Ratio measurements
  • Propagation Delay — Signal timing characteristics
  • Delay Skew — Timing differences between pairs

PoE Testing

  • DC Resistance — Verifying cables can deliver required PoE power
  • Resistance Unbalance — Identifying potential PoE problems before deployment

Fiber Optic Testing

Tier 1 Testing

  • Insertion Loss — End-to-end optical loss measurement
  • Length — Verifying fiber length and identifying breaks
  • Polarity — Confirming proper transmit/receive alignment

Tier 2 Testing (OTDR)

  • Event Detection — Locating splices, connectors, and faults
  • Reflectance Measurement — Identifying connector quality issues
  • Attenuation Profiling — Characterizing loss along the entire fiber length
  • Fault Location — Pinpointing breaks or damage to precise distances

Connector Inspection

  • Fiber Scope Inspection — Visual verification of connector end face quality
  • Pass/Fail Criteria — IEC 61300-3-35 inspection standards
  • Documentation — Saved images of connector end faces

When You Need Cable Testing

New Construction Acceptance

Don’t accept cabling work without certification. Testing verifies that the installer delivered what was promised and identifies problems before walls are closed and contractors leave the site.

Network Troubleshooting

Intermittent network problems are often caused by marginal cables that pass basic continuity but fail under load. Full certification testing identifies cables that need replacement.

Pre-Upgrade Assessment

Before upgrading to 10GbE or deploying high-power PoE devices, testing verifies that existing infrastructure can support the new requirements.

Due Diligence

Building acquisitions, tenant improvements, and lease agreements often require documented infrastructure assessments. Our testing provides the evidence you need.

Compliance Requirements

Some industries require documented proof of infrastructure quality. Our test reports satisfy auditors and compliance requirements.

Deliverables

Every testing project includes comprehensive documentation:

  • Test Report Summary — Overview of test results with pass/fail counts and any problem areas
  • Individual Test Results — Detailed results for every cable tested
  • Cable Identification — Clear mapping between test results and physical cable labels
  • Electronic Files — Digital test results in PDF and native format for archival
  • Recommendations — Identification of cables requiring remediation and suggested actions

Our Equipment

We use professional-grade test equipment that is regularly calibrated:

  • Fluke DSX CableAnalyzer — Industry-standard copper certification testing
  • Fluke OptiFiber Pro — OTDR testing and Tier 2 fiber certification
  • Fiber Inspection Scopes — High-resolution connector inspection
  • Test Reference Cords — Factory-certified reference cables for accurate results

Industries We Serve

Our testing services support:

  • Commercial Construction — Acceptance testing for new installations
  • Data Centers & Colocation — High-density infrastructure certification
  • Healthcare Facilities — Infrastructure verification for compliance
  • Enterprise Environments — Pre-upgrade assessment and troubleshooting

Documented infrastructure coordination

Commercial cabling and infrastructure projects are planned around the records future IT teams, facilities teams, and approved trade partners need.

  • Coordination with appropriately licensed California contractors where required
  • TIA/EIA-aware planning and implementation standards
  • Fluke or equivalent cable testing and certification when included in scope
  • As-builts, cable schedules, labeling keys, and closeout photos
